San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker reportedly suffered an eye injury early Thursday morning during a brawl at a Manhatten nightclub that involved "rappers" (if you want to call them that) Drake and Chris Brown. The foreign star suffered a scratched retina after being cut by a glass bottle during the melee. Parker has been instructed to wear therapeutic contact lenses and will be out for approximately one week.
Here are some of the statements made by Tony Parker regarding the incident:
"I was quietly with my friends when a fight broke out. Bottles started flying everywhere. I tried to protect my girlfriend and I got everything."
"I was with my friend Chris Brown and me and my friends took some punches, so I'll be missing the start of the French team because I can't do anything for a week except keep the lens in and then take drops."
"They started throwing bottles everywhere. I don't know what happened. At first it was OK, but then it started getting worse and when the plane landed it was really hurting so I went straight to the ER."
The fight reportedly broke out after Chris Brown sent a bottle of champagne to Drake's table. Drake allegedly sent the bottle back to Brown with a note reading, "I'm fucking the love of your life, deal with it." Those are some pretty strong words for a dude with no street credibility whatsoever, but then again, Drake had some MMG goons with him so you never know.
Word on the street is Drake could be getting arrested prior to his concert in Jones Beach on Saturday night for his involvement in the brawl unless he decides to turn himself in. An unidentified eyewitness claims Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill initiated the bottle hurling which could mean trouble for the 25-year-old aspiring rap artist. Drake claims to have not thrown a single punch nor bottle, so it will be interesting to see what the former child television star tells the NYPD.
All these rappers try to act like they have no feelings yet they beef with each other over a girl who has been around the block probably a thousand (different) times.
P.S. Knicks PG Iman Shumpert was at W.i.P. on Thursday night but he reportedly came out unscathed and left before the brawl broke out.
**UPDATE** Tony Parker is reportedly suing W.i.P. for $20 million over the eye injury he suffered during the fight involving Drake and Chris Brown. Parker's injury turned out to be worse than initially expected and thus he was forced to undergo surgery. Parker claims he almost lost his eye during the bottle-throwing melee and his status for the London Games is uncertain. Stay tuned for more updates.
