Vilma Suspended For 2012 Season

Roger Goodell is at it again folks.

The controversial commissioner has suspended Saints LB Jonathan Vilma for the entire 2012 season (without pay) due to his participation in a bounty scandal. Vilma allegedly offered $10K to any player who knocked Brett Favre out of the 2010 NFC Championship Game. It has also been reported that Vilma assisted DC Greg Williams in establishing and funding the bounty program. Former Saints DT and current Green Bay Packer, Anthony Hargrove has been suspended for eight games, DE Wil Smith will be out for four games and Cleveland Brown LB Scott Fujita will miss three games. Each player is likely to appeal, but it doesn't look like Goodell is going to budge.

Look I knew Vilma was getting suspended (I thought eight games tops), but a full season? Damn that's a long time for a football player. I definitely think Goodell went a little overboard here, but you can't blame him for attempting to completely eliminate bounties from the NFL.

Looks like Gregg Williams and J-Vilma will be playing a lot of golf together this season.
