Mariano Rivera Tears ACL, Career in Doubt

New York Yankees Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera tore his ACL while shagging fly balls before Thursday night's game in Kansas City. It sucks to see him go down like this, but Mo reportedly shags fly balls during BP every day so it wasn't too bizarre that he was out there catching pop-ups. After watching the video, it looks like he slipped on the warning track and landed awkwardly, before falling to the ground. You can clearly tell this is serious from Rivera's reaction (it hurts me to watch), plus whenever someone is diagnosed with a "twisted knee" and has to get carted off, it obviously can't be good. Unfortunately this looks like the end for the greatest closer (and arguably the most dominate pitcher) in the history of baseball. This is a sad, sad day folks.

**UPDATE** (5/4/12) Earlier today, Mariano told reporters, "I am coming back. Write it down in big letters. I'm not going out like this."
