Ozzie Guillen Suspended 5 Games

Ozzie Guillen has been suspended by the Miami Marlins for five games, due to his inappropriate comments regarding Fidel Castro. In an interview with Time.com, Guillen said, “I respect Fidel Castro. You know why? Many people have tried to kill Fidel Castro in the last 60 years, yet that [SOB] is still there." He was also quoted as saying he "loves" Fidel Castro and that he heavily drinks after away games.

This isn't the first time Ozzie Guillen has said some stupid shit. What about the time Ozzie said Adolph Hitler "just had that 'it' factor?" Or the time he called Sean Penn a "loser" and Jay Mariotti a "fag" (which is actually pretty funny).

With an overwhelming population of Cuban-Americans in Miami, this is not a very smart thing to say. Guillen was brought into Miami to help increase interest and create buzz amongst those of Cuban descent, not to insult their culture. Ozzie returned to Miami yesterday to apologize for the remarks, but it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference. Ozzie is lucky to only be missing five games and hopefully he will learn to keep his mouth shut (but I doubt it).

Dan Le Batard, a Cuban-American sportswriter, discusses the severity of Ozzie Guillen's comments.
