After months of speculation, Asante Samuel has finally been traded. The 4-time Pro Bowler will make $9.4 million this season and $11.4 million in 2013, which was simply too much money for the Eagles to pay him. After signing Nnamdi and aquiring DRC last summer, Philly had no need for Samuel, especially with that hefty contract. The Falcons reportedly gave up a "late-round" pick for the 31-year-old, but no official deal has been announced yet. This trade will be finalized by tomorrow at the latest, so stay tuned for more updates.
***UPDATE*** 4/25/12 10:30 AM ET: I have just received word that the Falcons are simply in the process of finalizing this deal. Philly will get a 7th-rounder in return for Asante.
***UPDATE*** 4/25/12 1:30 PM ET: Asante reportedly reached an agreement w/ ATL worth $18.5 million over the next three seasons, thus the trade will go through.
